Our Valentine's Day was definitely one for the books this year! I had such an amazing time planning and prepping to surprise the girls, and I have to say the work was worth it after seeing their happiness! I'm one to make a big deal about every holiday lol, I just love making memories that my babies will cherish for the rest of their lives. I'm team extra when it comes to celebrating and I'm proud of it!
Growing up we didn't have the luxury to do these types of things, my mother was a hard-working single mother supporting three kids on her own, so extra spending was just not possible. To be completely honest, I do what I do for them but at the same time for me and the little kid inside of me! I enjoy it as much as they do, or maybe even more!
I'm truly blessed that my partner supports me in all my craziness, he loves to see his girls happy and goes along with my ideas! Our day started with surprising the girls with a room full of heart-shaped balloons, goodie bags, and activities. My little one was in awe, she jumped up and down and said WOW! Those are the moments I live for! After checking everything out they opened their goodie bags and you can imagine the excitement at the site of all the chocolate!
Next up was breakfast, I kept it simple with heart-shaped waffles and fruit. They made sure to eat super quick to be able to have some sweets and why not it was Valentine's Day! Our next move was coloring, they colored heart cutouts and decorated them with stickers and a bunch of glitter of course!
We baked cupcakes and made chocolate covered strawberries, we spent the day together playing and enjoying each other's company. Later on in the evening we went out for a family dinner and for the first time in a long time it was actually relaxing. No tantrums, no fighting between the girls, just pure fun!
I have to say it was a successful day, I thank God for giving us the opportunity to live these moments, I will cherish them forever! We are all so busy in life doing what we have to do that it is nice to slow it down some days and just enjoy the moment. It doesn't have to be a holiday for us to try this, once in a while it's good to just celebrate life with the ones we love!
I hope you all enjoyed this post and get some ideas for your next Valentine's Day, share with me your ways of celebrating!
